More Than Ready
gets off to good start

AUSTRALIAN CHAMPION juvenile sire More Than Ready is off and running for another two-year-old premiership after his debutant Cambiaso won the first Melbourne juvenile race of the new Australian season in impressive fashion on Sunday.

Canbiaso will be set for a "Star Witness" campaign after he taking the the Listed Superracing Stakes (1000m).

A $300,000 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale purchase, Cambiaso is trained at Flemington by Danny O'Brien, who also prepared Star Witness.

"He's a beautiful colt," O'Brien said to "He was a lovely yearling and he's been one of those horses who when you broke him in you knew he was pretty special.

“He's done this pretty much on raw ability. He's only had the one jump out. We think we'll put him away now. He'll be a pretty serious two-year-old come the autumn."

Cambiaso is likely to miss the $2 million Magic Millions 2YO Classic, instead with Group 1 races on his autumn agenda.

"He's a horse we'd prefer to give him a nice break and hopefully get him ready for the Blue Diamond," O'Brien said.

Cambiaso is the only foal out of the Flying Spur mare Flying Alpha, herself a graduate of the Gold Coast sales ring.

A winner at Listed level and Group placed in Sydney and Brisbane, Flying Alpha died when carrying a full relation to Cambiaso in her second season at stud.

Flying Alpha was raced by John Cornish's Torryburn Stud and Cornish bred Cambiaso.
