More Cockney success for Cunningham

CINDERS And Ashes' part-owner Phil Cunningham again was celebrating at Kempton on Monday when his Cockney Sparrow, a homebred by his Anglo-Irish 2,000 Guineas winner Cockney Rebel, got off the mark in the 1m2f maiden.

The Peter Chapple-Hyam-trained filly is the 13th winner from the first crop of her triple-winning sire. The son of Val Royal has been well supported by Cunningham, and has rewarded his faith by siring other first-crop winners Cockney Dancer and Na Zdorovie for the breeder.

Cockney Rebel, whose first crop is topped by the Listed-placed Taloubet, stands at the National Stud in Newmarket for £4,000.

Cockney Sparrow is the second winner from three foals out of Compose following Sarbola (by Dubai Destination). The placed Compose owns some regal connections as an Anabaa daughter of Totality, a Group 3-placed sister to Derby hero Commander In Chief and half-sister to Warning.

Compose has a two-year-old sister to the winner and a yearling filly by Doctor Dino.
