Montmartre first foal born at long last
THE first foal by Montmartre, the impressive winner of the Grand Prix de Paris in 2008, was born in France on January 27 - two years after he entered stud at the Haras National du Pin.
Though returning high fertility counts, Montmartre suffered from a lack of libido in his first season
at stud and was withdrawn from the breeding shed.
He returned to stud last year and is reported to have successfully covered around 100 mares.
The first to give birth was Maia Dancer, an unraced daughter of Danehill Dancer and eight-time winner Maia Eria, who produced a bay colt.
