Schiaparelli: the son of Monsun stands at Overbury Stud in Gloucestershire

OVERBURY STUD's new recruit Schiaparelli had his first mare scanned in foal on Sunday.
The 10-year-old Desert Story mare Desiree, who hails from the family of New Zealand's champion filly La Mer, was the first to be covered by the eight-year-old son of Monsun and has returned a positive test.
Among the other mares booked to be covered by five-time Group 1 winner Schiaparelli this season are Megasue, a triple winner by Kayf Tara and sister to Grade 1-placed Megastar; El Tigress, a half-sister to Grade 2-winning hurdler El Dancer and to the dam of Captain Cee Bee; and Royal Keel, a half-sister to Relkeel.
Schiaparelliwon the German Derby among his 12 career victories, which also included the Preis Von Europa, the Gran Premio del Jockey Club twice, the Goodwood Cup and the Prix Kergorlay.
He is one of three Classic winners out of theOld Vic mare Sacarina. His sister Salve Regina won the German Oaks and his brother Samum also won the German Derby and has already claimed the German champion sire crown. His best offspring include another German Derby winner in Kamsin, Group 1 winner Baila Me and German Derby runner-up Sordino.
Schiaparelli stands at Overbury Stud in Gloucestershire alongside Kayf Tara, Sagamix, Bertolini and Proclamation. His 2011 fee is £3,000.
