Monsun gelding Solidaro tops BBAG opener

BBAG hosted a party in Baden-Baden on Thursday, the eve of the opening of the company's two-day October mixed sale, with connections of Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe heroine Danedream - a €9,000 BBAG Spring Sale purchase - as special guests

On Friday a cosmopolitan set of agents and trainers were in pursuit of their own Danedream.

The day's top lot, the four-year-old Monsun gelding Solidaro, was bought by Italian Pietro Francescini for €38,000.

Solidaro was trained by JensHirschberger for owner-breeder Gestut Schlenderhan to win a conditions race at Longchamp in May, and finished eighth behind Danedream in the Group 1 Grosser Preis von Berlin in July.

Two lots made €30,000: Western Mystic, a Listed-placed daughter of Doyen,  sold to Panorama Bloodstock, and a colt foal by High Chaparral, sire of this month's Group 3 Preis des Winterfavoriten winner Tai Chi, sold to Helmut Kappes.

Turnover in the opening session - lots 1-75 of the 220 on offer formed a premier session - was around €750,000, with a clearance rate of around 55 per cent.
