Grade 1 winner Midships to stand in France

GRADE 1 winner Midships has been retired to Haras de Saint Arnoult in France, where he will stand his first season next year at fee of €3,000.

Initially trained by Amanda Perrett for his breeder, Prince Khalid Abdulla, Midships was successful on his two-year-old debut at Newbury and in a competitive handicap at Newmarket the following year.

He was transferred to Bobby Frankel in the US at the end of that season and went on to develop into a leading turf performer, capturing the Grade 1 Charles Whittingham Memorial Handicap and a pair of Grade 2 events. He was also third in the Grade 1 Hollywood Gold Cup.

Midships will be the first son of Juddmonte's Kentucky-based sire Mizzen Mast to stand in Europe. He also hails from a powerful Juddmonte family as a half-brother to the Grade 1-placed Staging Post from the immediate family of 1,000 Guineas third Interval and Grand Prix de Paris winner Zambezi Sun.
