Millionaire West By West dies at stud in Turkey

Millionaire West by West died on Thursday at the Jockey Club of Turkey at the age of 22. The son of Gone West, who was out of the Cox's Ridge mare West Turn and closely related to Grade 1 winner Kodiak Kowboy, had been standing the current season for 2,000 TL (£754/€871).

West By West's finest hour on the track came when he landed the 1993 Grade 1 Nassau County Handicap for breeders/owner John H. Peace.

He spent his early stud career at Walmac Internationalin Kentucky, during which time he sired Graded stakes winners Sonic West and Appealing Phylly. In all, he  sired 26 stakes winners worldwide, including Turkish stakes winners Sari Lira, Beran, and Silver Dancer.

He is also the broodmare sire of Argentinean Group 1 winner Ollagua.
