Redoute's Choice: the son of Danehill has sired 21 Group 1 winners

Redoute's Choice son masters TJ Smith rivals

STANDOUT Australian sire Redoute's Choice got his 21st Group or Grade 1 winner on the board on Saturday when his son Master Of Design landed the Darley TJ Smith Stakes over 6f at Randwick.

Taking advantage of Foxwedge flopping at cramped odds - the son of Fastnet Rock was sixth of the sixth finishers as 11-10 favourite - Master Of Design beat the Commands gelding Rain Affair by a head, with the Starcraft filly Hallowell Belle another head back in third.

Master Of Design was bred and sold by Arrowfield Stud, who stand Redoute's Choice, a son of Danehill whose progeny includes champions Miss Finland and Samantha Miss.

Master Of Design is out of the Last Tycoon mare Urge To Merge, making him a half-brother to South African Group 1 winner Suntagonal. He is from the family of 2010 Australian hose of the year Typhoon Tracy.

He is the second Group 1 winner bred on the Redoute's Choice/Last Tycoon cross after Queensland Derby winner Dariana. The combination hasproduced seven stakes-winners from only 39 named foals.

Master Of Design was sold at the 2007 Inglis Australian Easter yearling sale for A$2.1 million.

Urge To Merge has a 2011 filly by Charge Forward and is in foal to Not A SIngle Doubt.

LAST Saturday's Golden Slipper hero Pierro slammed Black Caviar's exciting half-brother All Too Hard to win the Group 1 Inglis Sires Produce Stakes for two-year-olds over 7f at Randwick.

Pierro is by Lonhro, who shuttles between Darley's Australian and American bases, andout of Right Note, an Irish-bred Daylami half-sister to Prix d'Ispahan winner Laverock, who is by Lonhro's sire Octagonal.

VEYRON scored his fourth Group 1 win in the Easter Handicap over 1m at Ellerslie in New Zealand. He is by Thorn Park, a son of Spinning World who stands at Windsor Park Stud in New Zealand.

ETHIOPIA landed the Group 1 Australian Derby for his sire Helenus, a son of Arc hero Helissio. Helenus also sired last year's Group 1 BMW winner Cedarberg.
