Masque Rose falls to Brown at €125,000

MASQUE Rose (415) has so far proved the most popular lot on day two of Arqana's Breeding Stock Sale, selling for €125,000 to Richard Brown of Blandford Bloodstock.

Sold by France Galop President Edouard de Rothschild's Haras De Meautry, the daughter of Oasis Dream is in foal to Muhtathir and out of a full sister to multiple Group 1 winner and blue hen mare Miesque.

"She was an absolutely gorgeous mare, one of the nicest I have seen at the sale," Brown said after signing on behalf of an undisclosed client, before adding: "Masque Rose will stay in France for the time being until we have decided which stallion she will go to next year."

After buying the top lot, Diary, for 1.3 million guineas last week at Tattersalls, Sheikh Al Thani has been in action once again with Steven Hillen signing for lot 413, Liberty Chery, for €105,000 on behalf of the Qatari.

Earlier, Patricia Boutin's Suprina Agency signed for Grey Lily (356) at €95,000.

Consigned by her owner/breeder Gestut Ammerland, the three-year-old daughter of Boreal is out of the Group 1 Prix du Moulin de Longchamp winner Grey Lilas, and a half sister to the extremely promising unbeaten two-year-old Golden Lilac.

Boutin said: "The filly has been bought for Edouard de Rothschild's (President of France Galop) Haras de Meautry. She is quite small but has a fantastic pedigree and I thought compared to yesterday's prices she might have made more."
