Coral Future Champions Finale Juvenile Hurdle (Grade 1) 2m½f, 4yo

MARSH WARBLER (g Barathea - Echo River by Irish River)

Breeder: Darley

MARSH Warbler, a bargain 11,000gns purchase by Blandford Bloodstock at last year's Tattersalls July Sale, entered Triumph Hurdle calculations with an authoritative victory in this prestigious juvenile hurdle.

Sons of Sadler's Wells have altered the course of National hunt breeding over the past decade with Accordion, Kayf Tara, King's Theatre, Old Vic and Oscar each developing into leading sires. While Marsh Warbler's sire Barathea was marketed for the Flat throughout his 15-season career at Rathbarry Stud, the Breeders' Cup Mile winner has also enjoyed success over jumps as the sire of high-class hurdlers Overturn, Lemon Silk, Silk Affair and Made In Japan.

Barathea is also gaining prominence as a sire of jumps stallions; 2,000 Guineas runner-up Enrique is the sire of Binocular while Grade 2-winning hurdler Bouggler heads the first jumpers by top-class two-year-old Tobougg.

Barathea died at Rathbarry Stud in the summer of 2009. From 13 northern hemisphere crops of racing age, he is the sire of 29 Group winners including Group 1 scorers Magical Romance, Tante Rose and Tobougg.

Marsh Warbler is the third foal out of Listed Star Stakes winner Echo River and a brother to prolific Flat winner Ravi River. He descends from 1979 US champion It's In The Air, also the ancestress of top level winners Storming Home, Musical Chimes and Music Note.
