$320,000 Corinthian filly tops Ocala day three

WEDNESDAY'S session of the Ocala Breeders' Sales Company's 2011 Spring sale of two-year-olds in training in Florida was topped by a $320,000 daughter of freshman sire Corinthian consigned by Niall Brennan Stables, Agent.

The filly was sold to Mark Casse, Agent as agent. She is out of the stakes-winning Smoke Glacken mare Glacken's mark and workeda quarter-mile in 21.2 seconds at last Thursday's breeze.

Next best on the day was the already-named Everybody's Single, a colt by Rock Hard Ten consigned by Eddie Woods. He was sold to Patrice Miller of EQB for $170,000.

The colt, out of the Lemon Drop Kid mare Cute Cakes, ran one furlong on 10.2 seconds in the breeze.

Miller also paid $135,000 for Fast and Smart, a filly by Freud consigned by Hoppel's Horse and Cattle Co. The filly's' furlong in 10 seconds flat was the joint-fastest breeze over that distance.

A colt by Purim consigned by Paul Sharp, agent, was sold to St. George Farm for $130,000. The dark bay or brown colt, who breezed a furlong in 10.2 seconds, is out of stakes winner Extended Applause, by Exbourne.

For the session, 207 horses sold for $6,054,200, compared with 172 horses selling for a total of $4,659,000 in the corresponding session last year.

The average price was $29,247, up by eight per cent from $27,087 a year ago, while the median price was $20,000, up by 11 per cent from $18,000 in 2010.

The buyback rate was 23 per cent, compared with 29.2 per cent last year. Thirty horses sold for $50,000 or more compared with 23 a year ago.

The Spring Sale's final session takes place on Thursday.
