SARAYIR'S star is firmly in the ascendant judging by the cosy victory of Maqaasid in the Queen Mary Stakes.

Maqaasid is a granddaughter of Sarayir, who has leapt to prominence within the past year as the dam of Ghanaati, Rumoush and today's Prince Of Wales's Stakes also-ran Mawatheeq.

Listed winner Sarayir is one of six stakes winners out of Height Of Fashion alongside the likes of Nashwan, Unfuwain and Nayef, while her sister, Pretty Polly Stakes runner-up Wijdan, is the dam of Ribblesdale Stakes hopeful Fatanah - who, like Maqaasid, is by Green Desert.

Shadwell Farm vice president Rick Nichols told the Racing Post earlier this year: "Without doubt, Height Of Fashion has been the most influential individual of all of Sheikh Hamdan's horses worldwide.

"She has been just phenomenal. You can see ‘Height' in most of her family - most of them are quite big - and Sarayir is the same although probably darker in colour than her mother."

Maqaasid is the third foal out of Eshaadeh, who was unplaced in two starts. She is by Storm Cat, who was also responsible for the second filly home, Meow.

Eshaadeh has a yearling filly by Singspiel while Sarayir has been covered by First Samurai. She aborteda foal by Medaglia d'Oro last year.
