Malibu filly tops Fasig Midlantic day one

DAY one of the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Two-Year-Olds In Training sale was topped by the third lot to enter the ring, aMalibu Moon filly costing $390,000 (£241,883/€277,612).

Offered from Bridlewood Farm as agent, the second foal of the Giant's Causeway mare Eden's Causeway was sold to Bob Baffert and is named Eden's Moon.

Her dam is a winning half-sister to Grade 1 winners Paradise Creek, Forbidden Apple and Wild Event and to the dam of Eclipse and Champion Stakes winner David Junior.

A Harlan's Holiday colt consigned byMcKathan Brothers made $250,000 (£155,050/€177,941) when knocked down to EQB Inc. He is the second foal of a winning half-sister to the high-class Adore The Gold from the family of Criterium International third Yellowstone.

Eisaman Equine sold a Street Sense filly for $280,000 (£173,655/€199,311) to Mathis Stables LLC. The early February foal is a half-sister to two winners from three runners out of a winning half-sister to Grade 2 winner Love Of Money.

There were three $200,000 lots of which two, a Henny Hughes colt and a Hard Spun filly, were sold by Hartley/De Renzo Thoroughbreds LLC.

The $7,641,600 changed hands on the first day of trading, with the average of $47,170 sitting very slightly behind the average for last year's one-day sale.
