Malibu Moon filly tops Fasig-Tipton Timonium 

A VIRGINIA-BRED daughter of Malibu Moon topped a streamlined renewal of the Fasig-Tipton Eastern Fall Yearling Sale in Timonium, Maryland, on Monday.

The half-sister to US winners Noble Grey and Touch Of Success was bought by Ellen Charles of Hillwood Stables for $300,000.

Next best was a Street Sense colt out of the stakes-winning Richman mare Richbabe, making him a half-brother to Grade 3 winner Richwoman.

He was bought by Irish Acres and Jim Moloney for $210,000.

This year's catalogue was trimmed from 535 lots last year to 375 and to a single session.

The median increased by 30 per cent from 2011 to an auction record-equalling $12,000 and the average of $22,341 was up by 23 per cent from last year.

The rate of not sold lots dropped from 26 per cent last year to 15 per cent.
