Major update for DBS-bound Saoire colt

A pedigree analysis of Gladness Stakes winner Excelebration will appear in the results section of Monday's Racing Post.

BROWN Island Stables' Invincible Spirit colt out of Irish 1,000 Guineas winner Saoire received an important update ahead of his date in Monday's DBS Breeze-up Sale when his brother, Requisition, lowered the colours of Nephrite in the Listed Loughbrown Stakes at the Curragh.

The Aidan O'Brien-trained colt, who is the fourth Listed winner in as many days for his sire following Beyond Desire, Imco Spirit and Mayson, fought out the finish with the filly Coolnagree and scored by a length-and-three-quarters under Seamie Heffernan.

A €550,000 Goffs Orby purchase by Demi O'Byrne and a late withdrawal from last year's Tattersalls Autumn Horses in Training Sale, Requisition is a half-brother to minor winner Pink Diva (by Giant's Causeway). They are two of the first three foals out of Saoire, a daughter of Pivotal who has a yearling colt byGalileo.

Requisition's two-year-old brother changed hands for significantly less than his celebrated sibling as a yearling, selling for €58,000 to John Collins of Brown Island Stables at last year's Goffs Orby Sale. He is catalogued to sell on Monday as lot 111.
