Iffraaj: first season sire took his tally to four on Wednesday

Maiden double for
first season sire Iffraaj

FIRST season sire Iffraaj doubled his tally of British and Irish scorers on Wednesday when supplying the winners of maidens at Nottingham andRipon.

Nottingham winner Forjatt was making his debut for Michael Jarvis  in the colours of Sheikh Ahmed al Maktoum, for whom Iffraaj won the Park Stakes before transferring to Godolphin.

The 60,000gns yearling showed a willing attitude under Frankie Dettori to repel Gold Pearl, who would have been a first winner for Darley's US-based sire Henny Hughes.

Severalhours later at Nottingham, the Richard Fahey-trained Waltz Darling made a winning debut in the 6f maiden. His victory took his sire's overall score to four.

Iffraaj, who narrowly missed out on Group 1 glory when a head second to Les Arcs in the July Cup, stands at Kildangan Stud in Ireland for €6,000.
