King's Theatre son Menorah affirms class

MENORAH, last season's Supreme Novices' Hurdle winner, confirmed himself another exciting prospect for leading jumps sire King's Theatre in landing the Greatwood Handicap Hurdle despite the burden of top weight.

A bumper winner in the ownership of Eugene McDermott - who paid €48,000 for him as a foal at the Tattersalls Ireland November National Hunt Sale - Menorah was later sourced by Aiden Murphy for owner Diana Whateley.

The five-year-old is the fifth foal of Maid For Adventure, a triple-winning hurdler/chaser trained by Henrietta Knight.

King's Theatre is also the sire of the hugely promising novice hurdler Cue Card, his sire's other winner at the 2010 Cheltenham Festival when dominating the Champion Bumper field. The son of Sadler's Wells stood this year for €9,000 at Ballylinch Stud.
