Magic Millions select session statement

MAGIC MILLIONS managing director David Chester said he was delighted with how the first four days of the auction went and was hoping for it to be continued during sessions five, six and seven.

"There was a lot of doom and gloom heading into the sale," Chester commented. "But privately I was confident that the sale wouldn't slide as many had in other parts of the world."

"We worked very hard in attracting the best buyers we could find around the world and they certainly enjoyed the range of youngsters we had to put through the ring."

"I thought the most important thing was to get the clearance rate to over 80 per cent at the end of tonight's session."

"While the average slipped from $157,000 last year to a tick over $131,000 this year I am certainly more than pleased with the end results," he added.

The fifth session, and first non-select session, of the sale kicks away at 11am (local time) on Sunday.
