Big day for Bluegate Stud import Indian River

MADISON Du Berlais's gutsy win in the Hennessy Gold Cup at Newbury may have given jockey Tom Scudamore a day to remember, but it also marked the most significant British success for the gelding's Irish-based sire Indian River.

The six-time winning son of Cadoudal was imported from Haras du Berlais to Bluegate Stud in County Kilkenny for the 2006 season following a highly promising start to his stud career.

Since then, Indian River has also been represented by Shinco Du Berlais, winner of a Grade 2 at Auteuil. He stood the past season at €2,500.

Madison Du Berlais's breeder, Jean-Marc Lucas, also bred the gelding's dam, Anais Du Berlais, a winner over jumps in France.

Besides Madison Du Berlais, the daughter of Dom Pasquini is the dam of two other smart French jumpers in Jameson Du Berlais (Royal Charter) and Houston Du Berlais (Mansonnien).

Anais Du Berlais has a yearling filly by Turgeon named Boston Du Berlais.
