PAUL Murphy's homebred Mad Max turned in a bold round of jumping to repel Somersby in the 2m4f Novices' Chaseat Aintree.

The son of Kayf Tara was produced out of Murphy's star producer Carole's Crusader, who was awarded the TBA  Dudgeon Cup as National Hunt Broodmare of the Year in 2008.

The daughter of Faustus is also the dam of the high-class Sir Harry Lewis mare Carole's Legacy - successful in the 2008 John Smith's Mares Only NH Flat race - and dual winner Jayne's Crusader.

Carole's Crusader, who is a half-sister to Listed winner Hitman andfrom the family of German champion Mi Emma, has a two-year-old filly and yearling colt by Hernando.
