Lingfield victories for blueblooded fillies

LODGE Park Stud's run of success continued on Thursday when Minoan Dancer, a filly bred by Seamus Burns' nursery, won division two of the 1m2f fillies' maiden at Lingfield.

Her success comes in the same week that the Lodge Park-bred Was won the Oaks and juvenile Tha'Ir broke his maiden at Ripon. Fittingly, the latter is from the first crop of another Lodge Park celebrity, New Approach.

Debutante Minoan Dancer ran down the favourite Silent Moment, a Giant's Causeway half-sister to Grade 1 winner Congaree, to win by a head under Ryan Moore.

Owned by Cheveley Park Stud, who paid €240,000 for the daughter of Galileo as a yearling, and trained by Sir Michael Stoute, the filly is the first foal out of the 2008 Group 3 Ridgewood Pearl Stakes heroine Grecian Dancer. Burns paid 450,000gns for the daughter of Dansili - a half-sister to the high-class sprint juvenile Wunders Dream - at the 2008 Tattersalls December Sale.

In division one, the Sir Henry Cecil-trained Popular added a valuable win to her record when seeing off Hippy Hippy Snake to score by half a length. The Juddmonte-bred daughter of Oasis Dream is a sister to champion Midday, the winner of six Group 1 races including three renewals of the Nassau Stakes. They are out of Midsummer, a Listed-placed Kingmambo half-sister to Reams Of Verse and Elmaamul.

Midsummer has a yearling sister to the winner.
