WONDER OF WONDERS (f Kingmambo - All Too Beautiful by Sadler's Wells)

Breeder: Liberty Bloodstock in USA

THERE are few better bred fillies in training than Wonder Of Wonders, who went a step towards upholding her family tradition on Wednesday when running out a two-and-three-quarter length winner of the Cheshire Oaks.

Should the daughter of Kingmambo line up next month at Epsom in the Oaks, she will be bidding to go one better than her dam, Listed winner All Too Beautiful, who finished a remote second to Ouija Board in 2004.

Few families have such a rich Epsom history; out of the Tsui's brilliant broodmare Urban Sea, All Too Beautiful is a sister to 2001 Derby winner and champion sire Galileo and a half-sister to the brilliant 2009 Derby winner Sea The Stars. Another half-sibling, Melikah, ran third to Love Divine in 2000, and is the granddam of fellow Epsom Oaks candidates, Khawlah.

Wonder Of Wonders, who is the latest celebrity bred on the famous Kingmambo - Sadler's Wells cross, is the second foal out of All Too Beautiful following the unraced Giant's Causeway filly All For Glory. All Too Beautiful has an unnamed two-year-old colt by Smart Strike and a yearling colt by Dansili. Chester Cup, 2m 2 1/2 f

OVERTURN turned in a game front-running victory to take the Chester Cup and pay tribute to the breeding operation of former trainer Peter Harris, who dispersed the majority of his bloodstock interests at last year's Tattersalls December Sale.

Among the mares sold was Overturn's dam, the placed Kris mare Kristal Bridge, who was snapped up by Blandford Bloodstock for 19,000gns. In addition to Overturn, who is by the late Barathea, Kristal Bridge has produced Listed winner Arbella (by Primo Dominie) and smart hurdler Fisher Bridge (by Singspiel).

This is a famous Peter Harris family as Kristal Bridge is out of 1979 Yorkshire Oaks winner Connaught Bridge, also the granddam of Harris' 1999 Middle Park Stakes hero Primo Valentino.

CURRENT leading first-crop sire Dark Angel received another boost when Lily's Angel made it three out of three at the expense of Marford Missile in the Lily Agnes Stakes at Chester.

Her victory means that the filly - a bargain £8,000 purchase by trainer Richard Fahey at the DBS Premier Yearling Sale - has won her owner, Middleham Park Racing XIVIII, nearly £17,000 in prize-money in addition to a £10,000 Racing Post Yearling Bonus.

Bredby Mr and Mrs Nick Nugent, Lily's Angel is the first foal out of Noyelles, an unraced Docksider half-sister to Group 3 Prix de Flore winner In Clover and the Listed scorers Bayourida and Bellona.

Dark Angel, who stands at Morristown Lattin Stud in Ireland, is currently leading the first-crop sires' list thanks to six winners from 15 runners. Dutch Art, the sire of Lily's Angel's highly regarded stable-mate Miss Work Of Art, sits in second with three winners to his credit.
