The son of Halling was bought for 60,000gns at Book 2 of Tattersalls Yearling Sales when consigned by David Powell's  Catridge Farm Stud.

His dam Dawnus, by Night Shift, earned black type for winning at Listed race at Brighton and is out of a half-sister to Prince Of Wales's Stakes and Cumberland Lodge Stakes winner Wagon Master, from a family that traces back to that of Oaks and St Leger winner Sun Princess.

Longhunter is the sixth Irish-trained winner of the bonus and the first for her trainer Kevin Prendergast, who said: "He had been showing us something at home and he did the job well but I have no plans for him at the moment. It’s nice to get the bonus and it will help towards what we paid for him, 60,000gns!"
