Median down 59 per cent on Keeneland day 12

THE 12th and penultimate session of the Keeneland November breeding stock sale concluded on Saturday withdeclines in each of the key indicators of its economic health.

Turnover was down by 52 per cent on the same session in 2008, from $2,517,000 to $1,195,800. The session average of $7,765 was down by 36 per cent on last year, while the median decreased by 59 per cent tfrom $8,500 to $3,500.

Top lot honours went to the four-year-old Lease Of Life, a Juddmonte-bred Cozzene half-brother to Grade 1 winner Mizzen Mast who was a seven-length maiden winner at Windsor last year when trained by Barry Hills.

The colt, who was consigned by Mill Ridge Sales, as agent, was purchased by Jay Manoogian for $110,000.

The 13-year-old Cox's Ridge mare Zuri Ridge, a half-sister to Diana Handicap winner Voodoo Dancer, brought the session's second-highest price of $90,000 when sold to Lane's End Bloodstock.

The mare formed part of the Brookdale Sales-consigned complete dispersal of Windfields Farm.
