HAVANT (Halling - Louella by El Gran Senor)

Breeder: Mrs J Wigan & London Thoroughbred Services

THE Halling filly Havant became her sire's first Group-winning juvenile filly when landing the Sakhee Oh So Sharp Stakes on Friday at Newmarket.

The Darley stallion has had more success with his colts, including Group 1 winners Cavalryman and Cutlass Bay, and his progeny tend to improve with age, as did Halling himself.

The Dalham Hall resident stood for £10,000 this year. Eastern Aria became Halling's first Group-winning filly this year when the Mark Johnston-trained four-year-old won the Group 3 Lillie Langtry Stakes at Goodwood, and she later won the Group 2 Park Hill Stakes at Doncaster's St Leger meeting.

Havant's dam, the US-bred Louella, placed twice over 1m4f at Dax in France. By El Gran Senor, she is a sister to Don Bosio, who won twice over 7f at three in England, before retiring as a ten-year-old with wins in Germany, France and Switzerland to his name over 7f and 1m.

She is also a brother to Himself, a winner over 7f at two, and a triple 1m2f winner at three and four inEngland and France.

Louella has produced one previous black-type performer in Leadership, who won the Group 1 Gran Premio di Milano for Godolphin.
