First European
winner for Scat Daddy

PROGENY of first-crop sires dominated the finish to the 6f maiden at La Teste de Buch on Tuesday with the Scat Daddy filly Meulles coming out best against Avodale, by Lawman.

Meulles is the fourth winner worldwide by Coolmore's American first-crop sire Scat Daddy and his first to score in Europe.

Scat Daddy was the stand-out performer from Johannesburg's first crop, winning five races including the Grade 1 Champagne Stakes at two and Grade 1 Florida Derby at three. He has 111 two-year-olds produced off a fee of $30,000 to represent him this year and stood the past season at Ashford Stud in Kentucky for $10,000.

Bred by Scea Bissons in France, Meulles is the first foal out of Stadore, who was successful in the 2005 Listed Criterium de l'Ouest - Prix Dynavena at Craon. Meulles was snapped up by Sylvain Vidal on behalf of Gerard Augustin-Normand - best known as the owner of Le Havre - for €80,000at last year's Arqana August Sale.
