Laragh seals Tapit's great year in Hollywood Starlet

LARAGH carried the colours of Big Brown to a one-length victory in the 1m½f Grade 1 Hollywood Starlet Stakes for two-year-old fillies at Hollywood Park yesterday.

The grey filly is a daughter of Tapit, the US champion freshman sire-elect who has also been represented in his first crop of runners by Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies heroine Stardom Bound.

Bred by Mike Ryan and trained by John Terranova, she is out of the seven-year-old El Prado mare Rose Of Summer, a half-sister to Grade1 Hollywood Futurity winner Siphonic.

Laragh was purchased by Big Brown's owners IEAH Stables after she broke her maiden in August. She began her career being trained by Mark Casse, but was switched to Terranova soon after her sale.

On her previous start before the Hollywood Starlet, she had finished third in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf.

Wynning Ride (Candy Ride) and Toro Bonito (El Corredor) finished second and third behind Laragh in yesterday's race.
