Sir Percy to shuttle
to New Zealand

THE Derby winner and Lanwades Stud stallion Sir  Percy is to shuttle to Rich Hill Stud in Matamata, New Zealand for this year's southern hemisphere covering season. The deal was brokered directly by his owners.

Rich Hill Stud is advertising Sir Percy's fee for the 2009 southern hemisphere breeding season at NZ$15,000.

Kirsten Rausing, owner and manager of Lanwades Stud said: "Sir Percy's first foals look highly promising. After nearly 30 years as a leading stallion stud in England, Sir Percy shuttling to New Zealand will be a first for Lanwades.

"We are particularly pleased he is joining Rich Hill Stud to stand alongside champion Pentire."

Sir Percy won the 2006 renewal of the Derby beating Dragon Dancer, having won the Dewhurst as a juvenile and finished second in the 2,000 Guineas behind George Washington.  His first crop are now foals and he stands at a fee of £7,000.
