Lanwades' Aussie Rules to shuttle to Argentina

AUSSIE RULES will shuttle to stand the southern-hemisphere breeding seasons at Gaston Balbi's Haras Arroyo de Luna in Argentina in a leasing agreement with Kirsten Rausing's Lanwades Stud in Newmarket.

Aussie Rules was purchased from Coolmore by Lanwades in association with Denford Stud last year, and he is covering at Lanwades this year at a fee of £5,000.

The grey son of Danehill won four races for Aidan O'Brien, including the Somerville Tattersall Stakes at two and the Poule d'Essai des Poulains and Shadwell Turf Mile at three.

Withhis oldest Irish-conceived crop aged four, Aussie Rules is the sire of Group 3 winners Djumama and Duck Feet as well as five Listed scorers headed by smart sprinter Dinkum Diamond.

The Haras Arroyo de Luna is one of Argentina's leading nurseries, having produced multiple Group 1 winner Forty Licks, UAE Derby winner Asiatic Boy and unbeaten Argentine 2,000 Guineas scorer Gold For Sale.

Rausing said: "This new co-operation between Lanwades and Haras Arroyo de Luna highlights the continuing internationalisation of the world thoroughbred breeding industry. We are delighted to form this joint-venture between two leading independent stud farms."

Aussie Rules enters quarantine in June and will return to Lanwades before Christmas.
