First top level winner for Tally-Ho sire Redback

TALLY-HO Stud resident Redback was yesterday represented by his first Group/Grade 1 scorer when his daughter Lahaleeb defeated runner-up Rainbow View by a comfortable length and three-quarters to win the EP Taylor Stakes at Woodbine.

The Mick Channon-trained Lahaleeb, who won last year's Rockfel Stakes and finished second to Again in this season's Irish 1,000 Guineas, had finished sixth in the Group 3 Solonoway Stakes at the Curragh on her last start before theCanadian Group 1 event.

Bred by Tom Twomey, Lahaleeb is the fourth foal out of the 11-year-old unraced Blushing Flame mare Flames, a half-sister to Listed winner Dance Partner from the family of 2,000 Guineas hero Entrepreneur.

Lahaleeb was purchased as a yearling for 70,000gns by Hugo Merry Bloodstock at Tattersalls October Book 2, having been purchased as a foal by Tally-Ho Stud at the Goffs November sale for €40,000.

Flames is also dam of Listed scorer Precocious Star and Pink Flames, a two-year-old sister to Lahaleeb who was purchased for 210,000gns at the Tattersalls Craven breeze-up sale by Tom Tate for Jim and Fitri Hay and has raced once this year.

A winner of the Solario Stakes at two and the Greenham Stakes at three, Redback - who also finished third behind Rock Of Gibraltar and Hawk Wing in the 2,000 Guineas - stands at Tally-Ho Stud in County Westmeath. The son of Mark Of Esteem commanded a fee of €5,000 this year.
