Kyllachy duo head Tatts opening day of foal sale

COLTS by Cheveley Park sire Kyllachy commanded the highest two prices on the opening day of the Tattersalls Foal Sale.

Pinhooker Jimmy Murphy of Redpender Stud went to 55,000gns for a c0lt from Stringston Farm, for which Richard Brown was underbidder

Gay O'Callaghan of Yeomanstown Stud was the winning bidder at 50,000gns for the second highest lot, a son of Celestial Princess, and thus a half-brother to  David Simcock's smart juvenile Hello Glory.

It was  a busy day for the O'Callaghan family with Yeomanstown also paying 22,000gns for a Compton Place colt from Langham Hall Stud (309) and Tally-Ho Stud going to 25,000gns for a Myboycharlie colt from Rosyground Stud.

Tally-Ho havemore reason than most to follow Myboycharlie's stud career since not only did they pinhook the horse as a foal but also stood his sire Danetime.

Star sire had been Compton Place, whose progeny at one point occupied three of the top six places. With a Sakhee's Secret colt temporarily claiming top spot at  39,000gns, it was a good start for Whitsbury Manor Stud stallions.

The first day closed with a clearance rate of 65 per cent and an average of 9,398, slightly down on last year.
