Kris Kin sold to continue stallion career in Italy

KRIS KIN, the Derby winner of 2003, has been sold to continue his stud career in Italy.

The son of Kris S will stand next year at the Allevamento I Mandorli at a fee of €4,000.

At the end of a three-year-old season in which Kris Kin had won the Dee Stakes and the Derby, as well as finish third to Alamshar in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes, he was retired to Derrinstown Stud in County Kildare.

He has spent the last four seasons as a dual-purpose sire at Morristown Lattin Stud, and covered 24 mares there this year.

With his oldest progeny five-years-old, his best runners by RPR are Listed-placed pair Altair Star and Mystery Star. His sole stakes winner is Italian Listed scorer Cima On Fly.

Rose Candela from Mandorli – which stands another former Irish-based stallion in Daggers Drawn – said: “We were interested in a stallion from the Roberto sire line to cross with mares of Northern Dancer descent.

"We were particularly interested in KrisKin because of the numerous good runners he has produced in Italy, many of whom have been good, precocious racehorses such as Cima On Fly."
