Seanie winning the Tattersalls Ireland sales race at Fairyhouse

Seanie picks up the winning pot in the Tattersalls sales race

SEANIE, trained by David Marnane, brother of breeze-up consignor Con, took today's €73,000-winning prize in the Tattersalls Ireland Super Auction Sale Stakes.

The colt, having just run once beforehand when seventh at Tipperary, was bought by Questus 7 at Fairyhouse for €23,000 from breeder Ms. Teresa Thornton, who sold through Mullaghea Stud.

The colt subsquently breezed up at Doncaster the following April where he was bought by Emerald Bloodstock for €31,000.

Seanie is out of the Listed-placed, winning mare Cakestown Lady (Petorius), a grand-daughter of the four-time winner Late Sally, who finished third in the Anglesey Stakes (G3).

He is by Tally-Ho Stud's second-season sire Kodiac, the sire of four Listed winners. The son of Danehill, a close relation to leading sire Invincible Spirit, has had 29 winners this season - 13 of which have been two-year-olds.

He stands at €6,500 and has seven lots catalogued in this week's sale at Fairyhouse.

He had eight sell from 10 offered at the DBS Premier Sale for an average price of £27,000 and a top price of £60,000.
