Kiwi star Jimmy Choux to cover at Rich Hill Stud

MULTIPLE Group 1 winner Jimmy Choux will cover his first season at New Zealand's Rich Hill Stud, situated at Walton on the outskirts of Matamata.

A deal was struck for New Zealand's horse of the year by the farm and Nearco Stud chief Greg Tomlinson with the horses's previous owner-breeders Richard and Liz Wood.

Red Hill Stud had been interested in securing the services of SirPercy, however his owners decided to rest him from shuttle duties.

Rich Hill Stud, managed by John Thompson, and Nearco studs have secured a significant stake in the stallion, with the Woods retaining an interest. There will be a limited number of shares available for public purchase.

Trained at Hastings by John Bary, the son of Thorn Park was a Group 2-winning juvenile. His career stepped up a gear at three; he landed the Group 1 New Zealand 2,000 Guineas and Group 1 New Zealand Derby, before winning the Group 1 Rosehill Guineas.

His fee for 2012 is NZ$10,000.
