Double stakes glory for Three Chimneys sires

KINGSFORT (3 c War Chant - Princess Kris by Kris)

Breeder: Airlie Stud

KINGSFORT served notice at Newmarket on Saturday that he could be a force for Godolphin next season when taking the Ben Marshall Stakes at the expense of The Cheka.

From the sixth crop of Breeders' Cup Mile hero War Chant, Kingsfort became his sire's first and to date only Group 1 winner when taking last year's National Stakes - although the stallion came close with first crop member Karen's Caper, who was touched off in the Coronation Stakes, and Woodford Reserve Turf Classic runner-up Brilliant. The son of Danzig is also the sire of American Grade 1-winning hurdler Pierrot Lunaire.

Kingsfort is the third stakes winner by War Chant this year following Doncaster Rover and Chamberlain Bridge.

War Chant covered 61 mares at Three Chimneys Farm in Kentucky this season at an advertised fee of $12,500.

A half-brother to Grade 1 winner Prince Arch, who now stands at Walton Fields Stud, Kingsfort is out of a winning half-sister to May Hill Stakes winner Intimate Guest. This is also the immediate family of Grade 1 winner Luas Line and Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf winner Donativum.

Princess Kris has a two-year-old filly by Good Reward in training with Saeed bin Suroor named Star Blossom and a filly foal by Arch.

Godolphin later made it a double on the Newmarket card when sending out Blue Bunting to win the Listed Montrose Stakes.

The two-year-old filly, who was knocked down to Anthony Stroud for $200,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Yearling Sale, is the 13th stakes winner this year by Dynaformer, who stands alongside War Chant at Three Chimneys Farm.

Her victory caps an excellent autumn for the veteran son of Roberto, who has also been represented by Fillies Mile heroine White Moonstone, Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup winner Harmonius and Geelong Cup winner Americain.

Dynaformer stood the past season for $150,000.

Bred by B M Kelley in the US, Blue Bunting is a half-sister to minor winner Descaro and out of Miarixa, a French-bred daughter of Linamix and Prix Saint-Alary third Mrs Arkada.
