Half-sister to Diamond Sal takes top spot at DBS

A FILLY out of Richard Aston's star mare Fortune's Girl has assumed the top spot at the DBS January Sale, selling for £50,000 to Richard Haggas.

The daughter of King's Theatre is a sister to the Listed-placed Conflictofinterest and a half-sister to the high-class trio Diamond Sal, Theatre Girl and Ring The Boss.

Fortune's Girl has been a real moneyspinner for Aston's Goldford Stud with each of her foals to hit the ring selling for £40,000 or more. They include Ring The Boss, one of a number out of the mare that has already passed through Haggas' hands.

"This is the fourth I've had out of the mare, and she's never let me down," said Haggas. "I've sold them for 200,000gns, 100,000gns and £90,000. We've got a long time to decide what we'll do with this one."

With approximately 100 lots still to sell, the average is running at £8,139 for 64 - 50 per cent of those offered - sold.
