Razza Emiliana secures Group 2-placed Shahin
GROUP 2-placed Shahin will stand at Razza Emiliana in Italy this season at a fee of €3,500. The six-year-oldhorse, who was a late withdrawal from the Tattersalls December Sale, will be the only son of Kingmambo to stand in Italy this year.
Shahin retires to stud having won or been placed in six of 14 starts. The $950,000 yearling purchase looked a high-class prospect for Sheikh Hamdan when breaking his maiden easily as a two-year-old at Newbury but was restricted to just one start as a three-year-old due to injury.
However, he returned as a four-year-old to finish secondin the Group 2 Princess Of Wales's Stakes and Group 3 Geoffrey Freer Stakes. He was also third in the Listed March Stakes at Goodwood last season.
Bred by Swettenham Stud, Shahin is out of the Group 3 Lancashire Oaks-placed String Quartet, a Sadler's Wells sister to Grade 1 Secretariat Stakes runner-up Casey Tibbs.
Shahin will join Italy's leading first crop sire Gold Sphinx at Razza Emiliana.
