KING TORUS (c Oratorio - Dipterous by Mujadil)

Breeder: Whisperview Trading Ltd (IRE)

AIDAN and Anne-Marie O'Brien appear to have bred a colt capable of making his mark at Group 1 level in King Torus, who defied a 3lb penalty to run out a wide margin winner of the Vintage Stakes.

The colt is one of three European Group winners by Oratorio following Dewhurst Stakes winner Beethoven, who was also bred by O'Brien's Whisperview Trading, and Athasi Stakes heroine Lolly For Dolly.

Eclipse and Irish Champion Stakes winner Oratorio has also been represented by Australian Group 1 scorer Banchee.

A €30,000 purchase by Peter Doyle from the Goffs Orby Sale, King Torus is out of Dipterous, the first foal bred by Anne-Marie O'Brien and Joseph Crowley following their Ir15,000gns purchase of her dam, Dajarra, from the Aga Khan in 2001.

Dipterous was retained by the pair for €15,000 as a yearling and the daughter of Mujadil repaid their faith by winning over 6f and over €22,000 in prize-money before breeding King Torus.

King Torus is her second foal and winner following Italian winner Borghese Gallery, who is also by Oratorio.
