The 2011 Keeneland September Sale will include a blank Friday

Keeneland fine tunes September Sale format

KEENELAND has tweaked the formatfor its flagship September Yearling Sale this year.

Book 1 remains unchanged as a selected sale of approximately 200 yearlings on Sunday and Monday evenings with selling starting at 7pm.

Book 2 will now feature around 900 yearlings selling from the Tuesday to Thursday with sessions starting at 11am. The Friday will be a dark day with no selling.
Book 3 will begin on the Saturday with sessions starting at 10am.

"The changes made to last September’s format were positively received, and largely met Keeneland’s goal to better serve the needs of our customers in today’s dynamic market," said Keeneland vice president of sales Walt Robertson.

"These alterations reflect a ‘fine-tuning’ of that format in an effort to help consignors and buyers better navigate the first week, and to further encourage buyers to stay deeper into the sale."
