South African studs buy Rainbow View relation

A GROUP of breeders from KwaZulu Natal in South Africa has purchased high-class US turf performer Just As Well as a stallion prospect.

Eight-year-old Just As Well is an A. P. Indy half-brother to Fillies' Mile and Matron Stakes winner Rainbow View.

Trained by Jonathan Shappard, he won the Grade 3 Arlington Handicap over 1m2f on turf at Arlington and racked up Grade 1 placings inthe Gulfstream Park Turf Handicap, Arlington Million and Northern Dancer Turf Stakes.

He was bred by George Strawbridge out of No Matter What, a daughter of Nureyev who won the Del Mar Oaks and half-sister to Suburban Handicap scorer E Dubai. It is the immediate family of Breeders' Cup Classic hero Raven's Pass.

Just As Well will begin his stallion career at Bruce le Roux's Spring Valley Stud for the 2011 breeding season.
