Jumooh makes €450,000 at Arqana

A HALF-SISTER to this year's Classic placed filly Maqaasid (lot 24) continued the strong start to Arqana's December Breeding Stock Sale on Saturday after being purchased by Mandore Agency for €450,000.

Named Jumooh, the four-year-old was offered from Haras du Quesnay in foal to Invincible Spirit.

Bought by Freddy Head for €110,000 from her breeder's Shadwell as a two year old out of training at this sale in 2009, the daughter of Monsun was subsequently placed once for the handler in January.

With an opening bid of €100,000, competition was high for the close relative of 1,000 Guineas winner Ghanaati and first season sire Mawatheeq. French agent Nicolas de Watrigant eventually prevailed after a late entrance into the fray, whilst Nicolas de Chambure was underbidder.

CELENZA (Lot 3), consigned from the ever popular Aga Khan Studs started Arqana's December Breeding Stock Sale with a bang on Saturday morning when selling to France Turf International for €120,000.

Bought on behalf of Jürgen Winter's Haras de la Perelle, the two time winning daughter of Dansili will now continue her career in the breeding paddocks. "She is a lovely filly, with lots of updates," bloodstock agent Philippe Jousset said.

Out of the Listed winner Celebre Vadala, the three year old comes from the immediate Lagardere family of Queen Anne Stakes winner Valixir, and recent Group 2 victor Vadamar. The latter is due to run in the Hong Kong Vase next Saturday.

Winter's reinvestment comes after selling the top priced yearling here in August for €1.7 million. The daughter of Galileo also comes from one ofthe Aga Khan's families, and is now in training with Champion trainer Andre Fabre.
