Jukebox Jury sold to stand in Germany

JUKEBOX JURY, a dual Group 1 winner for Mark Johnston, has been bought by Gestüt Etzean and will begin his stallion career at the German stud next year.

The six-year-old grey is the second son of Montjeu new to the German stallion ranks next year, with Hurricane Run leaving Coolmore to join Gestüt Ammerland.

Jukebox Jury was bought by Johnston for €270,000 from the consignment of Kildaragh Stud at the 2007 Arqana August Yearling Sale.

Carrying the colours of Alan Spence he won nine races over four seasons, including the Royal Lodge Stakes at two - after which he finished second in the Racing Post Trophy.

At three he won the Rose of Lancaster Stakes, the Grand Prix de Deauville and the Group 1 Preis von Europa at Cologne, before being just touched off in the Canadian International.

In the following season Jukebox Jury added the Jockey Club Stakes to his Group-race haul and last year at five he landed the Prix Kergorlay and doubled his Group 1 tally by dead-heating with Duncan in the Irish St Leger.

Jukebox Jury will stand at a fee of €5,500 and will parade at this month's BBAG sales and racing festival in Baden-Baden. The deal to stand him was brokered by Axel Donnerstag.

Christiana Weil-Dassbach of Gestüt Etzean told German media: "After watching films of Jukebox Jury racing I knew he was the right horse for us.

"What surprised me was his speed at two and his fighting spirit, which he never lost over four years of racing. We will support him with our top mares and we are sure that he will be an asset to German breeding. "
