Journeyman Stud reduces fees

JOURNEYMAN Stud in Florida has reduced the fees for a number of its stallions for the remainder of the 2009 breeding season.

Circular Quay drops from $12,500 to $7,500, Cowtown Cat has been reduced from $8,000 to $5,000, Gaff is down from $3,000 to $2,500, Saint Anddan has had his fee cut from $5,500 to $4,500 and Mass Media is reduced from $4,000 to $3,000.

Brent Fernung, owner of Journeyman Stud, said: "We have always based our success on standing top quality Florida stallions at below market prices.

"With the upheaval in the economy this year, it has become apparent to me that we need to adjust our fees further in order to maintain that balance. Although some of our stallions like Circular Quay and Cowtown Cat have significant-sized books right now, we feel we need to be aggressive in order to assure they get every chance to be successful.

"The contracts that were signed to these stallions earlier this season at the higher prices will be adjusted to reflect the new fees."
