Discreet Cat joins freshman winners' club

US FRESHMAN sire Discreet Cat's first runner has become his first winner.

Son De America made a winning debut in a maiden claiming race over 2f at Santa Anita Park on Thursday.

The filly, bred in Kentucky by Dixiana Farms, is also the first starter for her dam, the winning Street Cry mare Elizabeth Street.

She is one of 118 first-crop juveniles for Discreet Cat, an eight-year-old son of Forestry and Grade 1 Alabama Stakes winner Pretty Discreet who stands at Darley's Jonabell Farm in Kentucky for $17,500.

Discreet Cat, an impressive maiden winner on his debut over 6f himself, landed the UAE Derby by six lengths and the Grade 1 Cigar Mile.

Among the Discreet Cats in training in Europe are Alwaffaa, a daughter of Listed St Hugh's Stakes winner Elaflaak with Marcus Tregoning; Green Legacy, a colt with Amanda Perrett; My Leader, a daughter of Listed winner Thousand Islands with Saeed Bin Suroor; and My Colleen, a filly with Rae Guest.
