Johnson spends €75,000 on Dom Alco gelding

HOWARD Johnson splashed out €75,000 to secure lot 73, a son of Dom Alco, at the Goffs Land Rover Sale this afternoon.

Already named Senor Alco, the three-year-old gelding is a half-brother to three winners, including chaser Ocarina, from the family of smart jumps performer Jasmin D'Oudairies.

Consigned by Norman Williamson's Oak Tree Farm, he had been sold to Mags O'Toole for £24,000 at last year's DBS Spring Store Sales.

Howard Johnson embarked on a small spending spree not long afterwards, paying €12,000 for lot 90, a four-year-old gelding who is the first foal out of Thyestes Chase winner Be My Belle, by Exit To Nowhere; €50,000 for lot 91, a three-year-old Zagreb gelding from the family of Yorkshire Cup winner Line Slinger, and €44,000 for lot 94, a three-year-old Presenting gelding out of winning hurdler Belmarita.
