RECENT Prix du Calvados winner Joanna heads a 65-strong catalogue for the Arqana Arc Sale at Saint-Cloud on October 3.

The daughter of High Chaparral, who has won three of four starts, is catalogued alongside the Listed-winning juveniles Ruler Of My Heart and Hard Life in the sale, which last year yielded subsequent Poule d'Essaides Pouliches heroine Elusive Wave.

A host of highly-rated older horses have also been entered including Varenar, who finished fourth last time out in the Prix Maurice de Gheest, Listed winner Allybar, who recently ran third in the Prix Guillaume d'Ornano, and Pointilliste, a Group 3-winning half-brother to Peintre Celebre.

For the first time this year, the sale will also include Wild Card entries, the lots numbers of which are 10, 20, 30 and 40.

"The horses in training market is a particularly reactive one," says Eric Hoyeau, president of Arqana. "Therefore we have  loosened the constraints imposed by the printing of acatalogue in order to allow vendors to enter a horse whose sale has become timely, and buyers to acquire a lot that has become more desirable.

"The pages reserved for these late entries ensure that they are treated the same as those that already catalogued, notably in terms of promotion."

Topped by the €660,000 sale of Elusive Wave to Oceanic Bloodstock, last year's renewal saw 22 horses sell for a total of €3,467,000 and average of €157,591.
