Pricey yearling Sud Pacifique wins maiden

SUD PACIFIQUE, a €600,000 yearling from the 2009 Arqana August Yearling sale, broke his duck at the third attempt when winning the Bob Beevers Memorial Maiden Stakes at Doncaster on Saturday.

The son of Montjeu was bought by agent John Warren for his owner Sir Robert Ogden. The colt is the first foal of Anestasia, a winning sister to Prix Marcel Boussacwinner Amonita.

Trained by Jeremy Noseda, Sud Pacifique raced twice at two, finishing second as favourite at Goodwood and Newcastle. He was bred by Eduard Mordukhovitch and offered at Arqana by Haras du Mezeray. He commanded the joint-third highest price at the sale.
