Japan Cup hero Alkaased to stand at Kellanne Stud

ALKAASED, winner of the 2005 Japan Cup forLuca Cumani, will stand the remainder of the breeding season at Bill Smith's Kellanne Stud near Hambledon in Hampshire.

The son of Kingmambo has stood since his retirement in 2006 under the Darley banner in Japan and is the sire of 98winners from his first three crops of racing age.

"I'm very pleased to have him," said Smith on Monday. "He's a great looking horse and as it's late in the season, he'll stand for a discounted £1,000."

Following a successful spell with Sir Michael Stoute, Alkaased developed into a top-class globe-trotter for Luca Cumani, winning the 2005 Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud and Japan Cup. He was also second in the Coronation Cup.
