Double bonus windfall landed at Southwell

RICHARD Fahey's owners enjoyed a profitable half hour at Southwell today after the trainer sent out winners of both divisions of the £10,000 Racing Post Yearling Bonus maiden at Southwell.

Coincidentally both colts are by Morristown Lattin Stud's second season sire Camacho.

"My two-year-olds are pretty straight and we got them out early to try and win the bonus," said Fahey. "That's two we've won today, so we've got £20,000 and it's great for the owners."

The Middleham Park Club secured the first £10,000 bonus after Jamesway, a brother to last season's smart sprint juvenile Star Rover, won easily by  one-and-a-half lengths from Mappin Time.

Jamesway was offered by his breeders, Yeomanstown Stud, at Book 2 of last year's Tattersalls October Sale but was led out unsold at 40,000gns.

The second of today's £10,000 cheques is heading to Percy/Green Racing 2 thanks to Arctic Feeling's victory over the filly Style And Panache.

Arctic Feeling was bred by John McEnery of Rossenarra Stud. He was sold for €17,000 at the Tattersalls Ireland September Yearling Sale.

Catherine Powell of Weatherbys presented both cheques to the successful connections.
