Russian Sage to stand at Gary Player Stud

SOUTH AFRICAN Classic winner Russian Sage will begin his stud career at the Gary Player Stud in the Cape Province in the forthcoming southern-hemisphere breeding season.

Russian Sage was trained by Justin Snaith to win the Group 1 Cape Derby and Daily News 2000 as a three-year-old in early 2008.

Subsequently transferred to Mike De Kock, he ran second to Balius in the Group 2 Jebel Hatta and a valuable 1m handicap at the Dubai Festival.

He also ran three times with credit in Britain including when seventh, beaten just over eight lengths behind Steele Tango, in the Group 3 Darley Stakes.

Russian Sage is by the retired Blushing Groom stallion Jallad and out of the winning Badger Land mare Sage Blue.
